My workplace humor fiction book, "The Developers," has been out for nearly two years now. As a self-published book that's now available through national distribution chains, it's definitely difficult to expect everyone to read the book at once. I've found that it's more like the five-year plan of trying to get the word out. With the release of my new book next year, hopefully I can discuss them somewhat in tandem.

Anyway, here are a few of the newest comments about the book:

YouTube awards are out

Are you one of those people who can't hold a conversation for more than three sentences without saying "Uh, huh-huh, yesterday on YouTube I saw (noun) and it was (adjective)." If you are, then you probably already know that the YouTube Video Awards were announced recently.

If not, you should click on the link above to check out the winners. Or, if you prefer to play Mad Libs (or Mad Glibs), I would recommend that you (verb) somewhere else.

SimpleTEXT creates a visual symphony

I'll admit that although I consider myself a technophile, I'm not really into cell phone text messaging.

There are a few reasons for this. First, I'm at my computer roughly 46 hours each day (at least, that's what our time management system says I should be doing). So if I want to send a message, I can easily do it via a keyboard. Second, I'm not that fast in typing the letters and words on a phone. Third, I'd prefer to not touch my phone anyway. I have a Bluetooth headset, so I can hit the button to pick up calls fairly easily.

Musicians saving the Internet, too

It looks like the only group who isn't willing to save the Internet these days is the one on Capitol Hill.

Musicians, including well-known bands and smaller independent artists, have joined together in supporting Net Neutrality. On the actual website, Rock the Net, you can quickly get a list of the supporting artists and a list of upcoming concerts.

Unlimited email storage space with Yahoo

If you use Yahoo email and you are one of those people who save every email, it looks like you won't need to empty the trash anytime soon.

Yahoo announced that in May, the company will over unlimited storage capacity.

Soft drink turns people psycho?

In a day and age when there are so many different types of people, with various races, ethnicities and personalities, there is one type I'm more likely to associate with frequently.

I have an insatiable and unconscious desire to surround myself with Dr Pepper drinkers.

But Iím also convinced that most Dr Pepper drinkers are psychotic.

Which comes first is unclear. And calling someone psychotic can be misconstrued, so Dr Pepper drinkers, donít take this personally. But ponder the following arguments.

Baltimore indie bookstore carrying 'Corporate Ties'

The Book Escape in Federal Hill is now carrying Corporate Ties. I just noticed online that this store is selling a copy of The Developers for $5. That's a great deal (although I won't get a penny if someone purchases it).

Let's talk trading cards

I decided to write a little bit here about my hobby of collecting trading cards. Maybe this will turn into something of interest to the Internet, or at least my kids will have some background info on me when I move along.

The first time I remember receiving cards as a gift was the Christmas of 1983. We were at a neighbor’s house - the boy who lived there was in my brother’s class - and Santa was giving out 1983 Donruss rack packs. The most interesting thing about this is that Santa was either related to or was Vinegar Bend Mizell, a former major leaguer.

If you are at the very least familiar with pop culture humor, you are probably know about Chuck Klosterman. I'm not insinuating that you've read all of is works or anything like that, but perhaps you've heard his name before.

The headline I thought I'd never write: People are LESS crazy

See that guy in the office next to you? He might be crazy, but he's not quite as crazy as he was a few years ago.

According to my extremely scientific Ultimate Crazy Survey, readers have decreased their craziness by almost three points, from 37 to 34.3. These results were determined by taking the square root of each participant's name, converted into ASCII values, multiplied by a factorial of Avogadro's Number, depending on what time zone you live in. Or maybe it was just by taking point totals from each question, I cannot remember.
